What is Atlantic Source’s goal, and how did we come up with the idea?

Atlantic Source offers satellite geolocation services. The idea, developed initally for the boating world was born due to the need to communicate the position of a ship to the outside world at all times. The service has the inmediate advantage of safety and security at sea, but it is also the start of a new range of services for the boating community based on geolocation.

What services do you provide and what is your star product?

We offer a location service for boat owners that let’s them know the location of their boats from a web based application at all times. They can keep this information privately for themselves, or share it publicly in the public site, social networks, etc… We also have a solution for regatta organizers, that will let them track the participants at all times, and lets web visitors communicate with participants.

What does the boat need to have in order to enjoy these services?

Any boat with a power supply (9 to 32 V) can install our equipment on board. The device comes with an auto-installation kit that let’s you enjoy the service in a matter of minutes. You should only make sure that the device has a clear view of the sky, so that the signal can reach the satellites with no obstacles.

What makes you different from other geolocation services?

An extremely easy installation procedure, a customizable web service, and a completely automatic satellite transponder that requires no human intervention at all once installed and connected to the power supply.

How do your customers perceive your service?

All of them believe it is very useful. Most of them believe the most important advantage it provides is safety at sea, some more just want to keep connected to their loved ones while sailing very far from home, and many enjoy the most social part of it, which is sharing your journeys and sea experiences publicly with web visitors just like in a microblog.

We have a very diverse set of customers from large fleet owners and charter companies that need to control a large fleet, to leisure boaters, and our services and cost adapts to their needs.

Do you provide your services only in Spain or also abroad?

Since our service provides full worldwide coverage, we track our customers anywhere in the world and we ship our devices directly to your boat right from our HQ in sunny Barcelona.

What are your plans in the future?

We are working in a messaging service that will let boaters exchange more information besides the location data, and we will make some new services available in the website.
