Original OP: Everyone Could be Telling Part of the Truth S1

by /u/traveledgladlybeyond

Hi everyone. I am a criminal defense paralegal. I recently worked for months on a case that had been going for thirty years with a death row inmate who had maintained his innocence the entire time. In a shocking turn of events and reinvestigation, we ended up getting the answer to the case. The man was innocent of the crime with which he was charged, but MUCH more involved than he had let on. No one in the case was all the way lying, or all the way telling the truth, and neither the defense nor the prosecution had the right story.

I just started listening to Serial season one yesterday, and am stopping now in the middle of the last episode to write this. I've been looking online and searching on this subreddit to find conversations with my theory, but I can't really find anything. I haven't watched the HBO show, please please share more information with me, or links with anyone who has discussed this theory, or debunk it if you have more information! I am excited to discuss it here. I approached my theory thinking, how can everyone be, in their own opinion, telling basically the truth? How can both Jay and Adnan feel that they are being MOSTLY truthful? It kind of becomes slightly unsavory and possibly "speaking ill of the dead", which I feel is really unfortunate. I was a teenage girl once, I feel for Hae. But, in the interest of investigating the possibilities of a murder for which someone is serving a life sentence, I feel like this possibility bears mention.

Adnan decides that he wants to talk to Hae after school. Maybe something she said to him, or something he saw made him feel like he wanted to talk to her. But, he didn't want to ask directly, whether it's because he's trying to not seem like he cares, or because he's manipulative and doesn't want to give her the chance to say no to talking, he realizes the best way to talk to her alone will be to get a ride with her after school. Normal, nonchalant, and time alone to talk. The problem is that his car is at school. So, he drives his car to Jay's and tells him this plan. I want to to get a ride home with Hae so I'm dropping my car off. If he has his own car, his request will seem pretty stupid. This is kind of weird, kind of silly, but Jay says fine, I don't care. Maybe Adnan even bargains, saying, you take my car to get the present for Stephanie.

Adnan asks Hae for a ride. She says yes. Teenagers are complicated. She doesn't really want to make a big deal out of this ride, and maybe she sees his request as a flirtatious move, after all, they've broken up and gotten back together before. Regardless of how she feels, which I don't know, she says yes. They get the ride, they might go to the Best Buy parking lot, they might go somewhere else. They park to talk. Things turn steamy. They start start to hook up, and Adnan accidentally strangles Hae.

(I am sure people have come up with this theory so I am sorry for repeating it but I just couldn't find it anywhere.)

Now, it's weird that Hae in her diary never mentioned anything as kinky as strangling, never mentioned anything like this at all, even though she did write about Adnan in a sexual way. Maybe it's just something she didn't mention. Maybe, it's something she had just done, for the first time, with Don, and told Adnan about it and he tried it (which would explain how he... failed). They found no spermatozoa, but they could have used a condom or not engaged in actual intercourse. I'll admit, it's hard to strangle someone to death by accident. But Hae dying by accident, at the hands of Adnan, is really the only thing that makes any of this story make sense to me. And this is the only way I can imagine someone accidentally being strangled to death.

外围体育投注Now, for the sake of Jay's testimony, let's assume they were hooking up in the Best Buy parking lot. Adnan realizes that Hae is dead. He thinks, shit, shit shit. He calls Jay, freaking out, he tells him, you have to come to the Best Buy parking lot, I have to show you something.

外围体育投注Jay comes, Adnan shows Hae's body to Jay. "She's dead?" "It was an accident" "Fuck, what are we going to do, why'd you call me, now I'm implicated, etc". The conversation goes down. This explains why Jay would have seen the body, why they would have moved the body, in a Best Buy parking lot. A weird place to plan to murder someone. A bad place to accidentally murder someone. And Jay would be, again, telling a big part of the truth.

Did Jay have good grades? Was he a good student? Anyone have his report card?

I’ve noticed that almost every other post gets deleted at r/serialpodcast.

It makes that subreddit impossible to search because the deleted threads don’t show up. And people did take the time to comment.

So here’s a repost.

Deleted Thread: Is there proof that Adnan knew where Leakin Park was? Is there any other day his phone pings to that location other than the 13th?

外围体育投注Maybe they were removed because they were spam? I don’t know. But once a post receives multiple comments, it’s kind of unfair to those who replied.

Deleted thread: Rabia continues to maintain her lies.

by /u/veganweightlifter

Post:

The upload date for this talk that Rabia is giving at Claremont McKenna College is Feb 18, 2019 but I'm not sure that's when the talk actually took place. If you forward to 25:00, she starts to talk about Asia McClain. Asia says that she did talk to Adnan's Lawyer before the first trial and that the lawyer checks her dates out and she had her dates wrong. At 27:00 she says Adnan's lawyer never contacted the Alibi. Instead of stopping the talk there ... instead of dismissing Asia as a potential alibi but instead as someone wanted to help Adnan out, Rabia continues to discredit Cristina Gutierrez post-mortem. To this day, that's all Rabia has to spin the narrative. I can't believe she got a book deal, HBO docuseries, and record breaking podcast out of this. Serial's first episode was titled "The Alibi" but Asia is not an alibi.

Deleted Thread: Jay and Adnan's car

by /u/Veganstufff

Post:

I am SO confused. Adnan lent his car to Jay so that he can buy Stephanie a birthday gift. Why does Jay keep Adnan's car after? If you think about it the only reason Jay had a car was because of Stephanie. Someone, PLEASE explain.

Deleted Thread: Christina Gutierrez

by /u/Veganstufff

How was Christina Gutierrez a poor defense aside from not calling up a possible alibi? How else was she a bad lawyer to Adnan?
