What are some good places to get Aussie news that is not Murdoch or SMH, the Age? I like Crikey, but their website kills me. The Saturday Paper is a wankfest. I like FriendlyJordies, but I don't watch that much anymore.

So I was wondering how deep Greg Hunt's shitbaggery delved and did some quick duckduckgo-ing. Turns out the former Minster for the Environment and champion of the Coalition's Direct Action climate "policy" actually began his political thinking by writing a thesis in uni about putting... a price on carbon!?! O...kay. How can someone throw all of their values out for the good of the party?

It got me thinking about politicians who begin with noble intentions but end up making a deal with the devil. Turnbull comes to mind. Albo seems to have left behind his socialist values (whether you agree with them or not). Even the darling of the Left, Penny Wong, towed the party line on SSM in the public eye, and her emotion about the final outcome was evident to see.

Any others you can think of?

Edit: the only reason I can think of to answer my own question is to be change from within. Wong is an example of that. Maybe Hunt was trying to do the same thing but was dealing with Abbott instead of Rudd/Gillard/Shorten? Who knows.
